LIVING INNER PEACE™ ARTICLE ON PURPOSE

What is the difference between your Purpose and your Mission? Your mission in life is the overall picture of why you are here. Your Purpose is what you are doing with your life in this moment towards fulfilling your mission.

Why is knowing your mission and living your life on purpose important? Knowing what you are about stops other people from trying to tell you who you are, distracting you from your true mission. It also helps you to live an authentic life, which brings you to a place of inner peace.

What are the symptoms of not living your life on purpose? High drama, constant confusion about what you should be doing. Feeling lost, feeling inadequate, unhappy which can lead to health challenges.

How do you discover your mission?
    1.    Go back to your childhood and revisit those childhood dreams. What do you want to do with your life when you grew up? What were your favorite toys, things to do? What people did you admire most?

    2.    List 10 to 15 things that get you all fired up inside. See if there is a common thread running through these items. Now rate each item on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being that it gets you so fired up, you simply cannot living without it. All those items rating 7 or less are things you really like doing and that is wonderful but does not lead to your overall mission in life. Those things rating an 8 or more will probably give you some clues as to what you should be doing with your life.

    3.    If after doing the above two exercises you still feel like you don’t have a clue, just make something up. If you are blocked or stuck, the only way to get unstuck is to get the energy MOVING so just think of what you would want your mission to be and start moving in that direction as though it is so, and as the creativity starts to flow, you fill find that your true mission will begin to gradually unfold into your reality.

    4.    When asking yourself what your mission is, ask “what am I here to give,” not “what am I here to do.” Your mission is an expression of who you are, it is what you give, not what you do. What you “do” requires will and determination. What you give is simply who you are.

Living your life on purpose provides the necessary focus and direction for moving your life forward with grace, ease, confidence and inner peace towards greater levels of success in all areas of your life.

Inner Peace & Blessings,
